Woman with cerebral palsy takes stage – blows crowd away with powerful opera performance

People usually don’t expect much of Alfina Fresta when they first see her. The 29-year-old with cerebral palsy weighs less than 110 pounds and uses a wheelchair to get around.

But once she opens her mouth to sing, janitors have to come in and wipe all the jaws off the floor!

Alfina has spastic dystonic tetraparesis, a type of cerebral palsy that affects all of her limbs, making them spasm and twist. She has undergone several surgeries to combat her condition, but none of them provided much relief.

Despite the difficulty, Alfina has never let her condition get in the way of her passion for music.

“I only did what I do best and that makes me happier,” she said. “The music makes me feel alive!”

A video of Alfina performing at the Church of Sant’Agata in Catania, Sicily, has recently gone viral and millions have been left in awe of her angelic and powerful voice.
