February 18, 2018 Stories

When Kenneth Shinozuka was four years old, his beloved grandfather, Deming, started to show signs of Alzheimer’s Disease. When Deming started wandering in the middle of the night, once in the middle of the freeway, Kenneth went on the hunt for a device that would detect wandering. When he came up empty handed, he quickly got started on creating a device that would do just that. He created a pressure sensitive sensor that would send an alert to a smartphone, and started testing on Alzheimer’s patients by attaching the censor to their sock. The minute their foot would hit the ground, the sensor would go off.
