Over the past few years, we’ve seen a lot of truly amazing flash mobs take place.
The best part about these awesome events is that they never fail to take everyone completely by surprise. Although each one of them seems better than the last, there’s nothing quite like one that’s set to a great song that we all know and love, like what happens in this next video.
Growing up, The Sound of Music was one of my all time favorite movies, so I was thrilled to come across the following classic viral video. Every time I hear those first few notes to “Do, Re, Mi” it instantly brings me back to childhood and it never fails to put a smile on my face.
In the video, we see a pretty typical flash mob situation. Commuters are passing through a train station, when suddenly the music starts blaring over the loudspeaker and one person bursts into dance. Seconds later, Antwerp Station in Belgium is flooded with people of all ages, dancing their hearts out.
The mob was planned to find the perfect ‘Maria’ for a Belgian production of The Sound of Music through a search called Op zoek naar Maria. They expected the video to go viral at home, but it ended up taking the world by storm. More than 29 million views later, it’s still the very best surprise.
